&health care insurance::Assistant Vice President, Technical Services/DBA&?0?1?xxx?3?4?xxx?6?xxx?xxx?9?10?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::OLTP includes online claims system (IMS), managed care (IDMS) and customer service (CICS/IDMS) &&New application packages run on AIX. Often, there is a cost factor::&Z900(model 111, going to Z9 model 705 in Nov 05)::&runs legacy IMS and CICS systems. provides large scale data warehouse support.::&We have over 4 million members who can access our CRM system. The claims system provides real time data to an AIX based portal that members, providers, employers and brokers use. We support a nurse call center for about 70,000 providers in network. This is done on 1 z900 model 111 (see above.) We have a z900 (102) supporting our Medicate business.::&There are about 3000 CSRs and claims examiners that use applications listed above. In total, we process about 13 million transactions per day on the production box. Our data warehouse supports about 300 users and consumes approximately 400 MIPS on production. Development for legacy systems is done on a z990 model 103.::&?xxx?xxx?2?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::see above answers for application split. 1 Govt, 1 private production and 1 development. There are no IFL or zAAP processors installed. All Websphere work is done on AIX.&It is the only platform that will run our legacy code. ROI is used in project costing, but it is not a formal process for "choosing" the mainframe.::&capacity and service levels are the biggest arguments. I/O subsystem capacity is a big factor in our data warehouse choices.::&We recently converted a SLQ Server database to DB2 on z/os accessed thru DB2Connect on an AIX server. Benefit data is not available real time to CSRs and analysts.::&Improve ROI. We are outsourced to IGS and get very good pricing terms because of our contract.::&not familiar::&IBM needs to support more applications on the mainframe and continue to make it more cost effective. We need to counter the "old" views and get more people familiar with the power of the mainframe.::&?0?1?2::john.warfield@empireblue.com&?xxx?xxx?xxx?3?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?3?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?3?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?1?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?5?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?8?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?4::&&?xxx?1?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&&&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?4::&3::&?xxx?xxx?2?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?3::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?4?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?4?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?4?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?0?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&?xxx?xxx?2::
