::&I would first have statistics pulled for this location to determine how many accidents are occuring there, what hours, if speed was involved, etc. I would have a traffic study performed at this location by city DOT to determine if the physical make up of the intersection/surroundings may play a role in accidents there. I would have the SOD radar trailer deployed at this location to determine any patterns of speeding. I would have officers perform stationary surveillance of the intersection to determine if other causes such as running red lights, turning right on red, failing yield or other traffic violations are contributing to accidents there.

I would report back to the Council Member via the chain of command any recommendations by DOT for changes to the intersection or speed limit there. I would initiate a Directed Patrol for the times that speeding is observed/documented and require strict enforcement action be taken. I would have offciers specifically look speeding violations during morning/afternoon hours school zone speed limits are lower.

I would evaluate data after 30 to see if speeding or other violations are being reduced as a result of enforcement action taken. I would forward these results via chain of command to the council member. I would have radar and stationary observations done by officers every 6 months to ensure the any Motor vehicle violations are not reoccurring. ::&The Lieutenant acts as liasion for the Department with the media making public statements and releasing information concerning crime/incidents of importance to the public.
