&financial service::Sr Programmer Analyst&&&::&::&We moved off of traditional mainframe hardware 4 years ago. We still run CICS, VTAM, COBOL, etc on a VSE/ESA platform. This runs on an Intel box run SCO Unix, which runs FLEX-ES emulating IBMs VSE OS.::&We have approx 300,000 borrowers with Student Loans that we service. We have 100 CSRs collecting and servicing these loans. Our PROD CICS performs 200,000 tasks/day. We process 250,000 payments each month.::&We have 1 mainframe that supports both the internal and external side of our business. We have 150 employees. We have built a SQL Server DB and keep the data in sync from the MF. So, our web front end does get a lot of the data from SQL Server.::&?0?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx::&Our MF is a 34 MIP rated box running on a x235 IBM PC Server. It has dual 3.2 GHz Xeon Intel cpus.::&Were stuggling to keep the mainframe as a good platform to do business on. Upper management and our CEO are convinced that we need to move to "open" stuff. Weve been trying to get off the mainframe for the past 3 years.::&::&We have had very little interaction with IBM.::¬ familiar::&We hired consultants 5 years ago that stated "we gotta get off the mainframe". We built other data sources and built complex processes to keep the data in sync (big mess). The intent was to start pulling stuff off the mainframe. At this point, everything is still there.::&?0?1?2::garya@slfc.com
