I would start by delegating the appropriate squad to conduct this problem solving model with my assistance. We would request the assistance of crime analysis to obtain a diagram of the
intersection and a printout of the number of accidents reported over the past 12 months. We would request the assistance of the Dept. of Transportation to be a partner in soling the problem. Check with the Streets and Engineering Depts to make sure that traffic lights are functioning properly. We would deploy the SMART Trailer to collect traffic data and request assistance from SOD/Traffic Unit to monitor the traffic flow and take strict enforcemnt action on violation of traffic laws. All of this information would be analyzed and if it is determined that a public safety problem actually exists, we would work with the other involved depts (ie. DOT) to respond to the traffic accident problem. The appropriate action would be taken (ie, repair traffic light, strick traffic law enforcement, repair pot holes that may contribute to the accidents).
We would continue to access the problem and revaluate or change the plan if it is not effective. I would prepare a comprehensive report/response to the District Commander for review and response to the council member. I would solicit feedback on the plan from the District Commander.

intersection and a printout of the number of accidents reported over the past 12 months. We would request the assistance of the Dept. of Transportation to be a partner in soling the problem. Check with the Streets and Engineering Depts to make sure that traffic lights are functioning properly. We would deploy the SMART Trailer to collect traffic data and request assistance from SOD/Traffic Unit to monitor the traffic flow and take strict enforcemnt action on violation of traffic laws. All of this information would be analyzed and if it is determined that a public safety problem actually exists, we would work with the other involved depts (ie. DOT) to respond to the traffic accident problem. The appropriate action would be taken (ie, repair traffic light, strick traffic law enforcement, repair pot holes that may contribute to the accidents).
We would continue to access the problem and revaluate or change the plan if it is not effective. I would prepare a comprehensive report/response to the District Commander for review and response to the council member. I would solicit feedback on the plan from the District Commander.
