This includes members of the school, employees at City Hall, other businesses in the area that may be affected, City streets department and officers that work the area, including Downtown Bike Patrol. If a problem is identified I would suggest input form the streets division as to how we may better use traffic "calming" methods such as striping the street, more effective light change cycles etc... I would put in place a strong enforcement strategy that included conspicuous patrol and after an initial warning period strict enforcememtn of Chapter 20 violaitons. I would make sure the media was aware of our sincere concern of the problems identified and our dedication to resolving those problems. I would suggest meeting with the concerned stakeholders in the future to follow up on the effectiveness of any strategies empoyed and adjust and modify activities as needed. This would be an opportunity to build relationships with those in the community and to show them the level of service the Department can provide and wants to provide.

The media and public are entitiled to certain information in a free society and we must appreciate the job a member of the media is trying to accomplish. If we are able to build a strong relationship with members of the media we will be afforded the benefits that come from open honest human interaction. In short we will have built a trusting relaionship. If a reporter knows that we will provide the information accurately and in a timely manner and will not attempt to deceive them or miscommunicate facts, they will be more likely to give us the benefit of the doubt in sesitive situations. Having to communicate with the media can often be uncomfortable and undesirable. If we have established good working relationships with media representatives on the front end we will be able to better communicate with them when it is less desirable.

If we are able to build a strong relationship with members of the media we will be afforded the benefits that come from open honest human interaction. In short we will have built a trusting relaionship. If a reporter knows that we will provide the information accurately and in a timely manner and will not attempt to deceive them or miscommunicate facts, they will be more likely to give us the benefit of the doubt in sesitive situations. Having to communicate with the media can often be uncomfortable and undesirable. If we have established good working relationships with media representatives on the front end we will be able to better communicate with them when it is less desirable.
