However, given we crunch a lot of statistics for reporting customer usage, I do not believe this would run as fast or effectively on non-mainframe platforms.::&Being an outsourcer, we have two mainframes for ourselves as well as run mainframes for our clients (24 additional CECs.) We are less transaction driven running more batch to analyze SMF data and produce many reports for our clients. We currently have ~ 30 clients. Within those 30 clients, the number of people served would be significant (millions?) given there is credit card processing for the purchase of fuel at a gas station, insurance policies for clients in a number of insurance companies, and the list goes on. ::&Two mainframes on the internal. Transaction counts are small, but the work ripples to our external clients given we are configuring the OS and OEM products prior to rolling them out to the customers. We run very little business applications on the mainframe at this point.::&?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?xxx?7?xxx::Currently have 24 mainframes on the floor with two more being ordered for new customers. Total MIPS is ~ 4,033 in G5, z800, and z890 technology. To my knowledge, we do not have any zAPP, but believe we have one IFL for DNS as well as file and print serving.&Cant speak to this from the internal side--not aware of any specfic effort we have used to provide an ROI for mainframe usage outside of general profitability of our mainframe outsourcing services.::&More customer driven--we are supporting what they have, not trying to replatform.::&N/A.::&The fact that IBM keeps pushing customer to upgrade and with newer hardware technologies, it is pushing businesses to consider outsourcing versus maintaining it in-house. We can achieve discounts for IBM software they cannot which is also relevant to our organization.::&Not familiar.::&Outsourcing the mainframe is not always the road to death for the mainframe, although this is more the case than not. However, customers frequently do not make their timelines, extending beyond their expectation. ::&?0?1?2::don.hagen@i-structure.com Not Scored by Definition
